THE HOME OF THE NORTHERN RENEGADES SPRINT CAR SERIES
Feb 1, 2023
The Northern Renegade Sprint Car Series (NRSS) is so proud to announce we have formed a partnership with P-Won Performance in Ramsey Mn.
Mark Chevalier, owner of P-Won Performance has been a long time supporter of all the Renegade Brand Series and this was destine to be a great fit for the Northern Renegades.
P-Won is a company dedicated to providing the best race components and performance support for open wheel racers. As a dealer for XXX Chassis, Hoosier Racing Tires and QA1 among many other great parts, Mark is sure to have what you need to get your sprint car into victory lane. They also offer full setup services, used parts, custom shocks and just about anything else that you may need.
P-Won is also one of our 'go to' references when our racers have questions or need advice on how to get started. Mark has always been so helpful to all of the racers we send his direction even if they only need advice. His custom shocks are very affordable (a promise he made to us several years ago) and he has used his talents and resources to help develop and guide the Renegade Brand.
P-Won was instrumental in the development and design of the Super Sprint platform and especially the energy absorbing roof structure that we are so proud of. All of the Super Sprint parts are available on his website already. He is also working with us on several very exciting concepts that we aren't quite ready to unveil, but may just turn the world of sprint car racing upside down and shine a huge spot light on our local talent.
Be sure to stay up to date on all the exciting things the NRSS / P-Won has going on for 2023 as well as some money saving offers through our partnership with P-Won.
P-Won parts will be available at most if not all 2023 NRSS events and they can be reached at-
612-697-7143 or P-Won.com
Thank you and God Bless!

In a presentation to a group that signed up as interested in the class, the talking heads of the Renegades Racing Brand, introduced the newest member to the Renegade family class of race cars. The new class will be called the Super Sprint.
"The presentation went better than expected and the response was very positive!'" reported Caley Emerson the owner of the Northern Renegade Sprint Car Series based in Grand Rapids Mn. "In fact it went so well that we decided to make all the information public right away. I know we have teams already building cars and some very excited young and upcoming racers."
The class has been designed to fill the void that used to be occupied by classes like the pure stocks.
"As the barrier of entry into full size car racing continues to grow, it seemed like there was a problem that our brand of racing could fix. We started this process 2 years ago by trying to get a 4 cylinder into a full size sprint car. The motor could be expensive and the parts hard to come by. We tried several configurations and after about $10,000.00 of trial and error, we feel like we have a real solution." commented Ron Bernhagen owner of the Upper Midwest Renegade Sprint Car Series.
"I have a (soon to be) 14 year old son and racer. We were going to build a b mod as the next step." Emerson continued. "The cost to just get the car on the track was much more than I had expected and that really put me personally into high gear on this project. We have had so much great help, including Mark at P-Won Performance actually testing and fine tuning the overall platform to get the cars where we think they need to be."
The class is based on the Traditional Sprint Car class that has had so much success across all of the Renegade Series.
"We feel like one of the concerns that keeps people from sprint car racing is the perceived danger, so right off the bat we knew we had to make the cars different and safer. Different because we so often hear about fans who are confused by the A mod vs B mod situation. These cars had to look different than a Traditional Sprint. Also we wanted to limit the chances of these cars getting upside down and make them safer if they do." said Emerson.
The solution was a larger rear bumper to prevent powered wheel contact that can send a car violently into the air. Also a new (specifically designed for this application) energy absorbing roof piece. The new piece was designed and engineered by Mark at P-Won Performance and is in the process of being manufactured already. With a low cost of only around $150 the Renegade heads are very excited to be at the leading edge of safety innovation.
"Cost was a huge deal for us as life just continues to get more expensive" remarked Emerson. "We (the series) are even buying the restrictor plates ourselves so the racers don't have to buy and sell them if they move up."
The Super Sprint Series is tentatively set to make its debut in the early 2023 season as parts are already available to start building or converting cars.
You can get all of the details of the presentation at the Northern Renegade website by clicking the 'more' tab at the top of the page and selecting Super Sprint Concept Car.
A second live presentation for questions and answers will be scheduled soon so watch social media and this website for updates.
With the 2022 season in the books, it's time to step back, relax, regroup and get back to it.
